Why Us and Why Now?
Welcome to Keep it Real Clubs™! Our mission is to encourage youth to step away from screens and immerse themselves in real-world experiences. We believe in fostering connections, creativity, and critical thinking by promoting active engagement in the world around us.
Digital Dependency Among Youth
A study by Common Sense Media found that teens spend an average of 7 hours and 22 minutes on their phones daily, not including time spent on schoolwork. This excessive screen time can interfere with sleep, physical activity, and face-to-face interactions, which are vital for healthy development. By promoting real-world activities, Keep It Real Clubs™ aims to reduce screen dependency and encourage youth to engage in meaningful, offline experiences that build social skills and foster personal growth.

Benefits of Real-Life Interaction
Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics emphasizes the importance of face-to-face interactions in developing social skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Engaging in real-world activities helps children and adolescents build strong interpersonal connections and develop the ability to read social cues, resolve conflicts, and collaborate effectively. These skills are essential for success in both personal and professional life.

General Benefits of Real-World Activities
Physical Health Benefits: The World Health Organization recommends that children and adolescents aged 5-17 should engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. Participating in real-world activities such as sports, outdoor adventures, and physical games can help youth meet these guidelines, reducing the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic conditions. These activities also promote overall well-being and healthy lifestyle habits.

Cognitive
Development
According to Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child, active play and exploration are vital for brain development in children. Engaging in hands-on activities stimulates neural connections and enhances cognitive abilities, including problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. Keep It Real Clubs™ encourages youth to explore, experiment, and learn through direct interaction with their environment, fostering cognitive growth.
